Saturday Surprises

Gavin is leading the way, first to be removed from the ventilator (breathing on his own just fine), first to have his IV removed (enough nutrients through his feedings) and first to be removed from the bili lights (no more chilling on the beach look).

Griffin was also removed from the ventilator and is breathing unassisted. His eating habits are about one day behind Gavin (by a few ml), however he also had his IV removed today. No more needles (hooray).

Both are eating approximately 34ml of food per feeding (every 4 hours) with an increase of 1oz every feeding - up to 42 ml. I am getting nervous by how much these kids eat and am considering a second job so I can keep them happily fed. Feeding are via a tube through the nose. A machine administers the feeding via a syringe that can be setup to provide food over an extended period of time.

Eryn and I performed Kangaroo Care for 2 hours with each child. Randy held Griffin, Eryn held Gavin. Griffin slept for much of the two hours, however he would wake up periodically at the end of the two hours...open his mouth and lick his lips indicating he was hungry. Unfortunately there was not too much Randy could have done for him.
